Thin Sections

Thin Section
Have you ever wondered what a rock would look like if you cut it into really thin slices and then inspected it under a microscope using polarized light? Well stop wondering and take a look! These are photo's I took of thin sections I had made of rocks in my field area. I was looking for evidence of chemical assimilation of....well, actually it doesn't really matter. Most of the rocks are quartz monzonites (like granite but with less quartz), and  gneisses (black and white striped metamorphic rock).
